South Africa’s natural resources are abundant. With some of the best wind and solar conditions around the globe, it has the potential to become one of the key producers of renewable energy within the next few years. This has been realised with the introduction of the Renewable Energy Independant Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP) by the South African government. The first round of 28 bidders successfully reached financial close on 5th Novermber, 2012. A historic day for the emerging industry.
